Antigua Sailing Week on a 72ft cat with 10 kids!

The very impressive Chris White designed Atlantic 72 competing in the world famous Antigua Sailing Week. Throw in 10 children and we have our hands full as we chase the Gunboat 68, Tosca, around the cans in the blue waters of the Caribbean.

Antigua Sailing Week is a week-long yacht regatta held in the waters off English Harbour, St Pauls Antigua. It is one of Antigua’s most notable events. Founded in 1967, it is cited as one of the top regattas in the world with 100 yachts, 1500 participants and 5000 spectators on average annually.

The event attracts famous yachts and rock star yachties from all over the globe and our kids were delighted to learn that they were racing against Alex Thomson the British skipper of the IMOCA Hugo Boss who was enjoying sailing in the luxury of a Gunboat 68 rather than his usual IMOCA class.

To some of you this may sound a bit ambitious and to be honest, we weren’t sure of our sanity to start with, but boat kids will surprise you in the most wonderful ways. In this video, Olly takes us through his experience of racing a large performance multihull in the week-long Antigua Sailing Week event.

So we’re going to sit back and relax and let him tell you the story.
