Transatlantic on a Gunboat 68 – Part 3

You’ve seen how well the Gunboat 68 has performed in light to moderate conditions so can you guess what happens next? Jump on board with Shayne and the crew as they leave the Azores for their final leg of the journey into the Mediterranean Sea to Toulon in France.

After a week spent making repairs to the rudder case and awaiting a replacement blade in the Azores everyone is keen to get the last leg of the journey done. Unfortunately, conditions become more tricky as the wind starts to increase on the approach to Portugal and they have to work out a plan to deal with 50kts forecast PredictWind has warned for the Straits of Gibraltar.

As you can all imagine getting some footage while also sailing through some pretty tough and challenging conditions is no small feat. These guys are all professional crew sailing a very technical performance multihull in rough conditions. This is not something for the faint of heart and I am very grateful to Shayne for being able to film the action for me to use in these YT videos. Kudos to the entire crew for some amazing work.
