This link was sent to us from one of our followers. It explains the concept of using the power of surface area. It is the same sort of concept that we use to hold the composite chainplate in place.
Mike from Sailwest has been trying to solve the same sort of issues as us. It’s always good to see how other people approach the same problems. Some great work here.
In the video link above, Mike used carbon for his chainplates and eglass for his little pad eyes It’s worth noting some people use unidirectional fibreglass rather than carbon fibre for their chainplates. This was definitely the case for the Schionning catamarans in Australia. The only difference being you will need more eglass fibre to get the strength you need.
